F.L.E. Intro Letter
HEY FLE’S, C’MON OVER!
In a blink, it’s over. College will undoubtedly fly by (although during finals it seems to never end) and you’ll be left with only memories of those glory days. So make the most of it, experience all you can, meet new people, challenge yourself, and don’t forget to smile all the while! An ideal starting ground for your college endeavors is with Quest!
Quest provides the Freshmen Leadership Experience (F.L.E), an awesome program designed to throw fun in your face until you beg for mercy. Imagine, several weeks booked full of outdoor adventures designed to instill leadership qualities, all the while meeting new people who are wicked cool just like yourself. You ARE cool aren’t you?
It all starts with an initial meeting, but don’t be “scurred.” This is just to get to know everyone and no biting will be allowed. One of the strongest qualities about Quest in general is the diversity of people working and/or participating with our program. If yer not a hardcore outdoorsy “eat tree bark for dinner and sleep in caves” type, fear not! Our interests in Quest vary about as much as the programs we run, and EVERYONE has a place in our little home away from home. We are indeed a family here!
The FLE program is ultimately an accelerated path to becoming a super cool Quest staffer, where you will have the opportunity to help on some bomb-diggity sweet outdoor programs and adventures. They range from whitewater rafting and kayaking, to rock climbing, caving backpacking, biking and teambuilding. Some underwater blindfolded knitting takes place, but only to highly trained individuals.
Along with this letter there’s a bookmark of Quest’s scheduled courses for the semester, and below is a schedule of your wild and crazy adventures that will take place in the next few weeks. These trips will be AWESOME. At the meeting we’ll discuss what to expect on the trips, what to bring (food, clothing, etc) and what not to bring (pet chinchilla named Sausalito, laptop, etc.). Good? Great! It’s okay if you can’t make all the events, but try and hit as many as you can.
So, come hang out, meet a friend, share a story, take a nap, break a leg (no, not really). But you could learn how to help someone if they did break a leg. Wouldn’t that be fun? It’s all good in the Quest neighborhood!
Take care Peeps! See you all soon, in the meantime don’t be afraid to come in the office and just hang out. It’s a great way to meet people quickly.
