Quest Rental Policies
  1. The renter must have a valid form of ID: Current Driver’s License or BU ID card. All equipment must be paid for in full in advance with a reservation or on the equipment is picked up (subject to first come first serve availability). Absolutely NO REFUNDS will be made for equipment returned early, not picked up in time or any other potential reason. Up to ½ of the rental fee is refundable if cancellation is received no later than 48 hours prior to the pickup date.
  2. Deposits are collected on day of rental. Deposits will be held for all equipment using a check or credit card info. Prices are subject to change at any time.
  3. All equipment must be returned by morning after rental period to avoid any late charge and only during normal Quest office hours. Equipment is due on the date stated in the rental contract. Late fees are equal to the daily rate for the equipment rented and continue to accrue without limit until the equipment is returned. Late fees begin the day after the equipment is due back. Replacement costs will be assessed at full retail value.
  4. Quest has limited equipment and first priority goes to Quest programs, so not all equipment might be available.
  5. Before the renter leaves the Quest Office, they will inspect all equipment (including setting up tent and lighting a stove) checked out. The renter agrees that the rental equipment is in an “AS IS” condition; and has the responsibility to examine the equipment prior to accepting it. If it is not in good condition, it shall be exchanged for another or have the condition documented. Lost gear will be assessed a replacement cost. The renter is solely responsible for any damage, loss or theft of the equipment.
  6. The renter will lay out equipment to dry after return home and prior to returning to Quest. Don’t leave stuffed in bags or it may mildew. Equipment will be returned as clean as when rented or cleaner and dry or will face a cleaning charge.
  7. No tent will be considered returned until it is completely set up by the renter in the Quest conference room and inspected by Quest staff. If dry, tent must then be taken down and packed by the renter. Please allow 20 minutes for this process.
  8. To rent any boat from Quest the renter must have prior approval from Director and attended a basic paddling class with Quest or a Quest water safety talk. Quest staff can cover this beforehand if needed. Please allow 30 minutes for this. One person from group must attend and will share with the rest of the group. Comparable experience can be pre-approved by Quest Director by calling well in advance. Quest inflatables need to be returned to Equipment Room and inflated for final inspection.
